Subphylum Vertebrata

Subphylum Vertebrata is part of Phylum Chordata. The defining characteristic of Subphylum Vertebrata is the presence of bone, particularly hose that create a spine. The spine protects a spinal cord. Bones protect organs and help to provide shape for an organism. Kidneys are the excretory organs. Organisms of Subphylum also have skulls, closed circulatory systems with hearts and endoskeletons. There are eight classes of Subphylum Vertebrata: Myxini, Cephalaspidomorphi, Chondrichthyes, Osteichthyes, Amphibia, Reptilia, Aves, and Mammalia.
