Archaebacteria

Archaebacteria was, until recently, a kingdom of Domain Bacteria. Recent discoveries have been made it was decided that the organisms of Archaebacteria were too diverse and became Domain Archaea. The characteristics of Archaebacteria are: living in extreme environments where other bacteria are not found, such as in sulfur-rich environments, or in boiling water. Digestion is extracellular but not gastrovascular because they excrete enzymes to break down their food. Examples of Archaebacteria are halophiles, methanogens, and thermophiles.
